WHAT ARE HUMAN RIGHTS?

Human rights are rights from all humans. We all have the same human rights without any discrimination. These rights are interrelated, interdependent and indivisible. Many of the basic ideas that animated the movement developed in Second World War and Holocaust, culminating in the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Paris by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The ancient world did not possess the concept of universal human rights. Ancient societies had "elaborate systems of duties... conceptions of justice, political legitimacy, and human that sought to realize human dignity or well-being entirely independent of human rights". The modern concept of human rights developed during the early Modern period, in the European secularization of Judeo-Christian ethics. This rights are important from all humans because defend the other but also you, if you respect the right of the other, the other respect you is a chain It is damaged when you in respect the other rights, my rights end when they begin the other rights.

LEAGUE OF NATIONS

The League of Nations was an intergovernmental organization founded as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. It was the first permanent international organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in its Covenant, included preventing war through collective security and disarmament, and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration. Other issues in this and related treaties included labour conditions, just treatment of native inhabitants, human and drug trafficking, arms trade, global health, prisoners of war, and protection of minorities in Europe. At its greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February 1935, it had 58 members.

The diplomatic philosophy behind the League represented a fundamental shift from the preceding hundred years. The League lacked its own armed force and depended on the Great Powers to enforce its resolutions, keep to its economic sanctions, or provide an army when needed. However, the Great Powers were often reluctant to do so. Sanctions could hurt League members, so they were reluctant to comply with them. When, during the Second Italo-Abyssinian War, the League accused Italian soldiers of targeting Red Cross medical tents, Benito Mussolini responded that "the League is very well when sparrows shout, but no good at all when eagles fall out.

After a number of notable successes and some early failures in the 1920s, the League ultimately proved incapable of preventing aggression by the Axis powers in the 1930s. Germany withdrew from the League, as did Japan, Italy, Spain and others. The onset of the Second World War showed that the League had failed its primary purpose, which was to prevent any future world war. The United Nations  replaced it after the end of the war and inherited a number of agencies and organizations founded by the League.

HUMANS RIGTHS AND WORLD WAR II?

In 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Hitler's troops, World War II began. Upon completion in 1945, the balance was bleak: fifty million dead (thirty million of them civilians), two nuclear explosions directed against civilians (Hiroshima and Nagasaki), mass deportations, the methodical and systematic extermination in the fields of Nazi extermination of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals and other ethnic minorities, sexual slavery of women, razed entire cities, countries ravaged, etc..

In the Nuremberg Trials and Tokyo trials as victors judged most responsible for the Germans and Japanese. They were accused of committing crimes against peace (violations of international treaties and acts of unjustified aggression against other  nations), crimes against humanity (extermination and participation in planning and genocide) and war crimes (violation of laws and international conventions on war). The set of procedures carried out both in Tokyo and Nuremberg meant the establishment thereafter (as previously did not exist), the basic rules of prosecuting war criminals and the corresponding penalization. But what was not considered in any case were human rights violations committed by the Allies, who also produced. For example, the attack on Poland by the Soviet Union, the Allied bombing of civilians over Germany, the atomic bombs dropped on Japan, or retaliation and violations of the German population committed by the Soviet army during the final occupation of Germany . According to the criteria used during the Nuremberg Trials and Tokyo, these too were crimes against humanity, but the perpetrators were not charged.

The horrors of the war showed the need for an international body to promote international relations more equitable and less contentious and to regulate precisely the concept of human rights (especially to pinpoint what they were). The result was the creation of the United Nations Organization (successor of the former League of Nations, founded in 1919, at the end of World War I).
